If you pay a small monthly fee, you can use different blogging support sites.
Typepad is one which allows for a bit more diversity in your site's format.
Have a look at this graphic design professor's site.
Notice the links on either side of the daily blog which allows for richer content.
Of course you could do this same idea, with separate entries.
